Freya, the long-haired black Cockapoo, is very much the latter. When her owner, Flayne, chose to design a collar from our Spellbound Collection, she knew exactly the mood she wanted: witchy, spooky, magical - a piece that felt like it stepped straight out of an enchanted woodland.
The result?
A Fig × Eclipse Spellbound Hound Collar with white speckled stars, crafted in size S2 and built to stand out beautifully against Freya’s inky coat.
🌙 Meet Freya
Freya is a long-smooth-coated black Cockapoo with the most expressive eyes and a personality that fits her magical wardrobe perfectly. Although she isn’t walked on her collar, she wears it daily for style, visibility and (of course) aesthetic power.
🔮 The Inspiration Behind the Design
“I live for the witchy spooky vibes,” Flayne told us - and from the moment she said it, the design came together effortlessly.
- Fig brings rich, moody purple energy
- Eclipse adds deep cosmic black
- White speckled stars make the backing shine brightly even on long black fur
- And the Spellbound embossing ties it all together with potions, moons, stars and botanical details
Despite being a black dog, Freya wears dark colours brilliantly. The white speckled Eclipse backing ensures the collar never disappears into her fur, instead giving a crisp silhouette and striking contrast.

🐾 Why They Chose a Hound Collar
For Freya’s size (S2) and her long smooth coat, the hound shape was a perfect match. Its wider back panel helps the design stay visible amongst her longer fur, creating a beautiful frame for the embossed Fig wraparound.
“The hounds help the smaller collar stand out better in long fur,” Flayne explained - and she’s absolutely right. The Spellbound pattern is wonderfully detailed, so the added width really lets it shine.

This collar is a custom variation of our collection Spellbound collar - the only difference is that Freya’s design features white speckled stars instead of the collection’s silver speckles.

Freya isn’t walked on her collar, but that doesn’t mean it sits on a shelf. She wears it for:

- National Trust adventures
- Mini Peak District hikes
The collar is waterproof, mud-proof and wipe-clean. A baby wipe is all it takes after a muddy ramble.
The hardware holds up beautifully in wet weather too - something their hikes appreciate often.
