Inside the Starlight Collar: Design, Craftsmanship & Detail

Starlight is all about detail.

The kind you don’t notice all at once but begin to appreciate the longer you adventure with it.

From the way the foil catches the light as your dog moves, to the gentle contrast between the wraparound and hound backing, every part of the Starlight design has been chosen with intention. Nothing is loud. Nothing is rushed. It’s a collar designed to shine without shouting.

Xena, a red / golden spaniel puppy, wearing Starlight in Fig. The rich fig tones sit beautifully against her warm, coppery coat, while silver foil stars add a soft celestial shimmer that catches the light without overwhelming her colouring. A perfect example of how deeper hues can enhance red and golden coats with subtle contrast.

Introducing the Starlight Collar - Where Nature Meets Magic

The Starlight Pattern

The Starlight pattern is inspired by stars, galaxies, and soft celestial light - not by precise constellations or perfect symmetry.

Instead, the stars are scattered naturally, with gentle spacing and natural movement. Some sit closer together, others drift apart. The result is a pattern that feels calm and fluid, rather than rigid or overly structured - much like the beauty of the night sky itself.

Each design is pressed into the material using a debossing technique, creating a subtle depth you can feel under your fingers as well as see. Metallic foils are applied to the stars, adding a soft shimmer that catches the light quietly, rather than a high-shine finish that demands attention.

Silver foil stars stand out beautifully against her deep black coat, highlighting the natural, scattered pattern and the gentle depth created by the debossed design. Eclipse is especially striking on dark coats, offering contrast that feels elegant rather than bold.

Hand-Painted Speckled Stars

Along the hound backing, each Starlight hound collar is finished with hand-painted speckled stars in metallic golds or silvers.

This detail is intentionally understated. It is something you might only notice when you’re close, or when the light hits it just right. Because the speckles are applied by hand, no two collars are ever exactly the same. Each one carries its own small variations, its own character and it's own story.

It’s a detail that reflects how we approach design as a whole: thoughtful, tactile, and rooted in the belief that some of the most beautiful things in life are the ones you discover quietly.

Against her rich, warm coat, the silver foil stars feel softer and more understated, creating a balanced contrast that shifts subtly with the light. Hardware & Personalisation Options

From our ready-made collection, Starlight collars are available with silver or antique gold hardware.

When ordering through our Design Your Own collar visualiser, all four of our hardware finishes are available, allowing you to tailor the collar even further to your dog’s coat and your personal style.

Name personalisation is not applied directly to the wraparound on this design, but a name plate can be added in any of our 61 available colours. For the most seamless finish, we recommend choosing a foil colour that mirrors the stars - a small detail that helps everything feel intentionally connected.

The deep blue base anchors his black, white and tan markings, while pale gold foil stars add warmth and movement across the design. Cosmos works especially well on patterned coats, offering contrast without competing with natural markings.

Why Starlight Exists

If you’ve read our first Starlight journal, you’ll know that this collection began with quiet moments in nature - the kind you only notice when you slow down.

The way raindrops form patterns on glass.
Dew resting on leaves in the early morning.
Soft evening light filtering through woodland canopies.
The stillness of a night sky scattered with stars.

Those moments, and the stories they carry, sit at the heart of everything we create at Woof & Snout.

Starlight exists as a continuation of that feeling. A way of translating those fleeting, almost unnoticed details into something tactile and lasting. It’s not about recreating the night sky exactly, but about capturing the calm, the softness, and the quiet magic that comes with it.

This collection was designed to be lived with. To reveal itself slowly - through movement, texture, and light. Much like the moments that inspired it.
